Pericardium represents a fibro-serous bag, which consists of two foil: visceral, which învelește the heart and parietal, which surrounds the former, with the role of protecting the heart. In the pericardial cavity there is a small amount of fluid, the pericardial liquid, with the role in sliding foițelor pericardial during the movements of the heart. The analysis of the pericardial liquid may establish the diagnosis of viral, bacterial, tuberculous, fungal, colesterolitică and malignant pericarditis.
