The Institute of Virology “Ştefan S. Nicolau” (further designated by the use of “Institute”) was established by the decision of the General Assembly of the Romanian Academy of 12 December 1949 and operates as a scientific research unit of Romanian Academy, based on Law No. 752/2001 on the organization and functioning of the Romanian Academy, the state of the Romanian Academy, the H.G. No. 349/2.04.1990, Law No. 319/2003 on the status of Research and development staff under O.G. 57/2002 on scientific research and technological research, with subsequent amendments and additions.
In carrying out the statutory activities, the Institute of Virology “Ştefan S. Nicolau” assumes and takes the necessary measures to respect the personal data of users of its sites, as well as of all test applicants and/or Laboratory expertise.
In this respect, we show that the subscribed conforms to the guiding provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of data with Personal information and on the free movement of such data.
Any collection and/or processing of personal data shall be carried out only in compliance with the provisions of this normative act, as well as of Law No. 506/2004 on the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector.
The purposes for which we collect and process personal data:
- In connection with the use of the site displayed at the address www.virology.ro, the Institute of Virology “Ştefan S. Nicolau” does not collect or store such data, access to the site unconditionally, and visitors not having the option to create Personal accounts and log on to them. The purpose of this site is purely informative, presentation of the status, history, specificity and scope of the institution. In case of accessing the www.virology.ro website, the only cookies installed on the user’s computer will be session cookies, exclusively for optimizing site navigation, as detailed in the cookie policy;
- In connection with the use of the site hosted at torch.ro, the institute collects and processes personal data in accordance with the purposes of the study carried out in collaboration with U.M.F. Carol Davila and in connection with which the site was created. - In connection with laboratory activity/expertise, the Institute collects a small number of personal data, which are archived in a manner that excludes the possibility of disclosure the identity of subjects whose biological samples have been processed. The processing of biological samples shall be carried out only after obtaining the express consent of the subjects or their legal representatives, obtaining minimum information on the name, age, race or health status being necessary and used exclusively to determine the reference limits according to which the results are analysed. Following the delivery of the results to the subjects, their names will be deleted from the database, with only statistical data related to age, gender, race and preservation of the biological sample, with a view to carrying out a study archive of which these tests were worked and possibly (only with the written consent given in advance by the subject or by its legal representatives) to be used for studies which will be organized later.
- In connection with the use of the site posted at www.torch.ro, personal information are collected exclusively for the purpose of registration and work on the site, but also for obtaining scientific data, necessary for conducting the torch study. The latter data category is collected, processed and deleted under the same conditions as indicated above.
The Institute of Virology does not transmit personal data to any other third party for the purpose of use in market-sounding and/or marketing activities.
Exceptionally, personal data may be transferred to and at the request of public authorities (such as criminal investigation bodies, tax authorities) or where the measure is justified by the need to defend the general interest (aimed at protecting values such as national security, territorial integrity of the State, public order, public health, etc.) And only under the conditions laid down by law.
