No treatment for fetal infection with the rubella virus has been identified so far. In this situation the doctor will assess (preferably in an interdisciplinary team) a possible medical interruption of pregnancy, on a case-by-case basis. The evaluation will take place in the case of a proven infection occurring in the period 12-18 weeks of pregnancy in the presence of ultrasound anomalies, or in the case of primoinfection before 11 weeks of pregnancy.
